OPIC STORies

The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) is a self-sustaining U.S. government agency that helps American businesses invest in emerging markets around the world. Established in 1971, OPIC provides businesses with the tools to manage the risks associated with foreign direct investment, foster economic development in emerging market countries, and advances U.S. foreign policy and national security priorities.

A recent initiative to help highlight and elevate the global economic impact of OPIC’s foreign direct investment within three developing regions, specifically, Quito, Ecuador; West Bank, Palestine; and Tanzania, Zambia.

Sage created an engaging microsite driven by impactful photos and compelling content to help feature and highlight the success of each project through a photo-journalistic style that showcased the economic impact before and after the investment was made within these regions by OPIC. These three stories were told through the, OPIC Stories microsite, that Sage conceptualized through user-focused research, designed, developed and ultimately launched.

The OPIC Stories microsite was built from the ground up using the mobile first methodology. Sage employs this strategy so that each building block is created for a thoughtful website experience and user engagement. By employing this strategy Sage adheres to designing for all platforms, which builds the site uniformly so all components work together to tell the story.

Through clean design, simple navigation, and compelling stories this created the successful ideation and strategy of each project’s story within the microsite.

Sage created the concept, the design, and custom built the microsite. The site is now highly featured through OPIC.gov’s homepage and has been featured in international trade magazines highlighting the impact of the OPIC investment and the design of the microsite. In the end, Sage was able to capture the untold stories of meaningful investments made by OPIC and brought it to life through meaningful design and strategy.
