Web Designer

Sage Communications is a full-service, integrated public relations and marketing agency providing strategic communications services to clients from across the street to around the globe. At Sage, we work with all ranges of clients - from emerging start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. As one of the fastest growing agencies in the DMV, we are currently seeking applicants to join our interactive design team. The position is open to mid-level designers who possess a wide range of skill sets relating to design for the web. Applicants must be extremely organized, detail-oriented, and have the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.

An ideal candidate is someone who is able to create smart, usable and lasting digital experiences. They should have a strong working knowledge of user-centered design and be able to produce work that caters to specific audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualizing, executing and taking design pieces through production
  • Working with a wide variety of clients that demand different design aesthetics
  • Collaborating closely with other designers, art directors, and account executives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in design
  • Must provide link to online portfolio
  • 2+ years experience
  • Being highly creative, conceptual, as well as organized
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Have excellent time management skills and able to work within deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of industry tools, and a solid understanding of designing intuitive site functionality, interaction, site architecture, user interfaces, and navigation.
  • Possess strong typography and branding skills
  • An ongoing curiosity as it relates to emerging technologies, best practices, and aesthetic trends
  • TSA badge clearance is a huge plus

Preferred Skills

  • Experience using prototyping & wire-framing tools such as Webflow, Invision or related programs
  • General understanding of front-end development and production
  • Experience designing for Drupal and WordPress

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 3-5 years of account service experience or related field experience such as sales or marketing; agency experience is a plus

  • Work well with others – but can run a project independently as well
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

OBJECTIVE

Assist account team in the daily servicing of their clients and support other agency activities on an as-needed basis.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides day-to-day support/services to assigned clients
  • Deliver quality materials on time and on budget
  • Move a project forward to completion after the scope has been defined and approved
  • Partner with other departments within Sage from the beginning to start the project off correctly
  • Manage your client’s budget and billing
  • Assist Account Leads with all aspects of a campaign both internally and with the client
  • Facilitate status calls and client meetings as needed
  • Act as a liaison between all departments within Sage and the client to ensure the completion of projects
  • Joins forces with senior members of the team to assess tactical and strategic aspects of the account – figuring out what’s best for each client
  • Create statements of work for new projects with existing clients, or for new prospective clients
  • Become familiar with products, and tactical elements of a marketing plan and how they are used.
  • Become an expert on your client’s product, industry, solution, messaging, brand, objectives, competitors, etc.
  • Make all arrangements for internal team meetings and client meetings, including ordering and setting up refreshments, booking conference rooms, etc.
  • Review all work orders, revisions, estimates for accuracy and completeness before delivering them to the client
  • Prepare timelines in conjunction with the creative team and traffic; understand and support traffic system

 

TASKS

  • Manage all day-to-day client relations, projects and expectations
  • Build a strong and trusting relationship with your clients
  • Develop creative briefs for project kickoff
  • Create realistic timelines and budgets for new projects
  • Guide creative development to ensure consistency in all communications
  • Update weekly status reports
  • Open jobs, complete change requests
  • Request production estimates from vendors when applicable
  • Review and proof all files for accuracy before sending to clients
  • Understand your clients needs based on their company goals
  • Think strategically and deliver great work!

 

GROWTH PATH

Increased responsibilities as the Agency and its affiliates continue to grow. As a general guide, Account Executives will be trained and developed to become Senior Account Executives.​

Public Relations Fall Internship Program

Sage Communications, a full service, integrated marketing communications firm based in McLean, Va., is seeking interns to join our dynamic public relations team. Sage’s internship program draws top talent from universities and colleges around the country, and we are currently accepting resumes for our paid fall internship.

Our interns are more than glorified personal assistants; they are an integral part of all account teams.
